The Jewish Journal writer Eli Flank claims that comedian Sasha Baron Cohen has exposed “the fringe elements in our society.”
Uh, no.
Cohen has exposed what he really is: an arrogant, unfunny left-wing elitist desperate to shore up his diminishing media market presence.
Critics have panned his "Who is America" show at its premier. Why? It isn't funny to skewer innocent, people, regardless of their political views. Cohen is not a comic but a borish bully.
If anything, Baron Cohen's undercover forays into American life reveal how charitable and hospitable Americans are, especially to would-be foreigners unfamiliar with different American viewpoints.
Of course, Americans fight back when they see a shameful scam attempting to mock them.
I notice that The Jewish Journal didn’t report on gun-store owner Norris Sweidan from Riverside, CA. Last year, Cohen targeted Sweidan’s gun store to prank him and thus disparage the Second Amendment in the process. Within minutes, the gun store owner figured out who was behind the make-up of a Hungarian immigrant trying to purchase a gun.
Cohen fled from the store, abandoning his producer and the camera crew, but the press is picking it up and reporting it.
Now that’s funny—and gratifying!
