"For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray
for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in
all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
"That ye might
walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work,
and increasing in the knowledge of God;
"Strengthened with
all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering
with joyfulness;
"Giving thanks
unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of
the saints in light:" (Colosssians 1: 9-12)
"Filled with the knowledge of his will in wisdom and understanding"
One more time, Paul tells his fellow believer to pray for more wisdom and revelation, to have a greater and growing understanding of all that He is and has and does for us, that with His Word dwelling in us (Colossians 3: 16) we are prompted and directed by His Holy Spirit into every good work.
"That you walk worthy of the Lord, according to his glorious power"
Too many believers are trying to live out the Christian life in their own power, when Christ, who is our life (Colossians 3: 4) wants us to rest from our own efforts and let His grace move in us.
Paul also wants us to be "thankful" that we have received so great an inheritance.
Why many believers are unthankful, then, stems from how foolish and slow of heart they are to believe all that they have received from God the Father through the Lord Jesus!
Stop asking for God to "do something", and pray instead for God to reveal to you all that He has dones the works which He has prepared in you. Gain a greater revelation of His love and power, and watch what Jesus does in your life.
