A resolution proposed by Mayor Pro Tem Allan Mansoor passed by a 3-2 vote to oppose the Sanctuary State Law, SB 54, and reaffirm that Costa Mesa is a rule of law city.
IT WAS A LONG NIGHT IN COSTA MESA! There were about 95 public speakers. 47 opposed the Sanctuary State Law and 48 supported the Sanctuary State Law. Each speaker was allowed 3 minutes so it was a long night! The police and mayor kept tight control on the proceedings during the meeting.
It was reported to an attendee via an email that Council Member Foley organized the various groups and Costa Mesa leftist residents who turned out in order to support the Sanctuary State Law SB 54 and berate Mayor Pro Tem Mansoor for putting the Sanctuary State issue on the agenda. LULAC (The League of United Latin American Citizens), ACLU, indivisible/Resist members and various Orange County pro illegal groups were at the council meeting and spoke out. We The People Rising members attended to support the rule of law, as well as Concerned Citizens, America First Latinos, The Remembrance Project, LA County for Trump, and Latinos for Trump.
It was passionate night – with the mayor pounding her gavel frequently. The meeting ended at approximately 1am!
