“Guys just do stupid guy stuff.”

“70% of men are involved in pornography”

These and other trite and denigrating phrases I
suffered hearing from a number of men on men.

I have always found crude and offensive these
allegations that men are inherent boorish and loutish, primarily engaged in
every perversion imaginable.

Men and women both enter into this world in the
image of our first Father, Adam, who lost His spirit and died when he sinned
against God by eating from the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil.

Women have gotten heavily involved in pornography,
to their detriment. Women have proudly come forward to announce their condition
and break free through God’s grace.

Women, left to their own devices, and just as much
in bondage to sexual sin, apart from the grace of God. However, women have more
to risk and more to lose if they engage in promiscuous conduct, certainly more
than men.

The empty dichotomy which describes men and
lascivious and women as dainty and saintly is another worldly dichotomy that
has no place in the Body of Christ.

Apart from the role of the husband in a family and
pastor in the churches, men and women are not treated differently based on
their identity in Christ.

Men and women do think and behave differently, yet
that should not presuppose the body of Christ to diminish men because of sexual
conduct, or give the impression that women are saintly in these matters merely
because they do not practice explicit perversion.

Marriage Counseling in the Body of Christ needs to
focus on the truth as revealed in the Bible. Men are to command allegiance in
the home. Women are to submit. Men are called to love their wives and honor
them, as the weaker vessel. Both husband and wife love through Christ, who
lives in them and quickens them to obey. Women who try to love their husbands
in their own strength will fail. Men who try to command respect without first
submitting to God’s grace will only engender strife in the home.

If a woman does not approve of these conditions,
then she does not have to marry. If a man does not want to be  head of the household, then he has not right
or authority to marry.

Counseling must address that a woman must respect
her husband. A man must cherish his wife like His own body, for the two have
become one flesh! How could it be otherwise?
