Arthur:
It's clear that simply electing Republicans to gain control of the Senate isn't enough. We must elect strong conservatives who will fight for the principles of freedom that make America great.
We have taken a major step toward that goal by helping the grassroots nominate Judge Roy Moore in Alabama, but now we must expand our efforts in races across the country.
Our strategy includes three critical steps:
- Defeat vulnerable Democrats. There are as many as twelve vulnerable Democrats up for re-election next year and we need to find true conservatives to defeat them. We have already endorsed two candidates in these races – Ohio State Treasurer Josh Mandel (R-OH) who is running against Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Montana State Auditor Matt Rosendale (R-MT) who is running against Senator Jon Tester (D-MT). But we must also find candidates in West Virginia, Missouri, North Dakota, and several other key states.
- Fill open seats. Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) announced his retirement last week while Republican voters in Alabama were at the polls sending a message to liberal Republicans in Washington. Corker's retirement has opened up a critical Senate seat for conservatives and there could be more that open up in the months to come.
- Replace liberal Republicans. Sadly, many Republicans have lost their way and side with the Democrats in supporting liberal policies far too often. We must find strong, viable conservative candidates to challenge these incumbents too. It's the only way we will ever make a Senate majority matter and it's the only way to hold Senate Republicans accountable.
There is a lot of work to do and very little time to do it, but we can succeed if we all work together.
Please make a contribution to SCF and to any of our endorsed candidates before the reporting deadline Saturday night.
We made a significant investment in the Alabama race and could use your help to replenish our war chest for the many fights ahead.
Thank you for being part of our team and for doing so much to promote conservative leadership in Washington.
Sincerely,
Ken Cuccinelli II President Senate Conservatives Fund @KenCuccinelli / @SCF |
