It was music to my ears:

Tea Party favorite Kentucky Senator Rand Paul on the September 9, 2012 edition of "This Week with George Step-on-all-of-Us" actually told his party that they need to field more libertarian candidates in order to be competitive in the West Coast and New England:

"Every election cycle, the GOP gives up 170 electoral votes just like that" because of a platform on social issues.

This has to stop.

It's time for the GOP to get in line without fail behind individual liberty and responsibility.

It is not the government's job to make us moral. It's the government's job to keep society civil.

We need politicians who will stop the spending, cut the taxes, free up markets, end the nasty and unnecessary regulations which are hurting businesses and consumers while preventing people from getting jobs.

What consenting adults do in their own homes is ultimately their business. I am now more than ever o the opinion that the moral crusades of Big Government are creating Big Problems, instead of diminishing perversion, they are enhancing these very problems::

"The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law" (1 Corinthians 15: 57)

It's time to get law and order back in order with fewer laws, greater liberty, and a commitment to domestic tranquility in our streets rather than trying to save people souls through the barrel of a gun or a civil lawsuit in court.

"Progressive" is not the way to go, not at all, because the word implies that the country must go forward. The answer to these social issues is to be more conservative. Years ago, abortion was a private matter and discouraged; marriage also was a private matter, one which the state did not sully with laws and licenses.

Marriage precedes the state, no question about it.  The notion that two men or two women could call their union a "marriage" has no support — yet they can call their relationship whatever they choose. When the government gets involved in these issues, the resulting conflict over who must recognize what causes more problems, not fewer. Besides, the issue of "gay marriage" is less about marriage, and more about mere validation of a life-style, which is an inherently unfair move. I do not have to like the way peopl choose to live their lives, and I should not be punished for having a difference of opinion, nor do I get to impose on consenting adults how they live their lives, provided that they do not harm the natural rights of life, liberty, and property belonging to others.

To be more libertarian on these issues would gut the "wedge issue" nonsense of Big Government stalwarts who buy votes and take away freedom. Big Government may advance small wins for some people, yet in the long run we all lose as the state grabs more power at the expense of everyone else.
