Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell made a daring move in the last hours of the "fiscal cliff" negotiations.
He reached out to Vice President Joe Biden.
Mitch McConnell can no longer be saddled with the "one-term President" condemnation.
President Obama refused to budge. He refuses to stop the spending.
Yet he was more than willing to let his second take first place in negotiations at the last minute.
Who is running this country, then? Who is in charge?
President Obama has overplayed his hand already. He won reelection with a weaker mandate. Romney did not want to be President. That was President Obama's one saving grace.
Obama has stepped back into his own mess. The House of Representatives remains one chamber of government which will not bow to progressive pressures without a fight.
