Amazing!
New teaching, which in effect is eternal, for the Word of God cannot be broken (cf John 8)
Paul calls on all believers on what they are to do with their bodies, mind, and spirit.
Teachers like Marilyn Hickey and Andrew Wommack have effectively taught on the tri-partite being of every believer:
THat our spiritual man is eternal, in no need of renewing. The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord (Prov)
Our bodies, our flesh, we must submit as a living sacrifice Romans 12:1
But our minds need renewing, as written in Romans 12:2
Yet in Romans 12, Paul's exortation is very interesting.
It is rendered thus in the King James Version:
1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
3For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Notice it reads not to think "of himself" more highly. The team of English translators turns this passage on how the believer thinks of himself.
In truth, Paul is speaking to one's thinking in general!
A better translation would read:
For I say through the grace that was given to me to everyone who is among you not to over-think than than he ought to think but to think so as the to think soundly according to the measure of faith alloted by God:"
We should not over-think, but think according, submitted to, the measure of faith given to us by God.
Katy Perry wasn't kidding in her kidding criticism: "You over-think!"
We are not called to think through our circumstances! We are not to judge or follow through the dark reflection of the reprobate mind. Our faith, which comes by hearing hearing the word of God, is to guide our thinking.
He says "take no thought for the morrow!
Then take no thought for the morrow!
He says "Seek you first the kingdom of heaven, and the rest shall be added unto you."
Let's follow his lead, then, and receive the promise!
What then is the Kingdom of Heaven?
Righteousness, peace, and joy, the source and the fruit of the Holy Spirit!
We are not just called not to think too much, or too greatly, or too puffed up about ourselves, but not to overthink in the first place!
The mind must submit to faith, to the prompting of the Holy Spirit!
And we have nothing to fear from his guidance, for He will lead us into all truth!
