I am concerned about the growing numbers of people who are praying to God to change who runs our country.
Who lives in the White House, who sits in the statehouse, has no control or dominance over the peace of our house.
Too many people are looking at God as if His goodness, His will, His kindness, His skill cannot overcome whoever is in power.
"Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king." (1 Peter 2: 17)
This prayer remains true for every American, even if the President is a man whom many despise as an unjust ruler.
Beyond the elections, the choices made by individual voters, it is the Lord who chooses who will reign in our lands:
"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of
God: the powers that be are ordained of God." (Romans 13: 1)
If you do not like President Obama, rest in the Truth that Jesus Christ is watching out for you. Under His wings, there is nothing but His security and supply.
Does that mean that individual voters should not be involved in their local, state, or national politics? Of course not! Yet I believe that instead of speaking forth fear and trembling about who ends up in office, members of the Body of Christ have a simple message and mission to be lights in a fallen world. As Jesus is the Light of the World, so are we lights that can shine in the statehouse, and we shine in our neighbors' house.
No matter who sits in the White House, we can know and believe that the Love of God blesses us and protects our house.
