"Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
"2For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.ב
"3Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
"4Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart" (Psalm 37: 1-4)

Why do we have such a hard time believing what the Bible says?

We do not believe on Him whom God the Father sent to die on for us:

"Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent." (John 6: 29)

This life is not our life, for Christ is our life (Colossians 3: 4)

The issue will always return to the Person we focus on.

Are we focusing on our efforts, or do we rest in His Finished Work?

We can trust Him because He sent His Son to die for us (John 3: 16)

His shed blood has cut a New Covenant for us, one in which we can trust that He will take care of all things:

"
10For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more." (Hebrews 8: 10-12)

God is our God, meaning that He takes care of all our needs, that He does not just stand and watch us struggle, but also steps into our times of trial and raises us up. He fights for us, He defends us, and all that He asks us to do is — put our hand in His.

The Lord is our Shepherd, and He wants us to trust in His love for us.

How do we know that we can trust Him, and that His love is trustworthy? Look no further than the Cross:

"Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins" (1 John 4: 10)

and

"is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19We love him, because he first loved us." (1 John 4: 17-19)

Whatever fears we have, whatever concerns we face, whatever needs need met, we find all things in Christ, for He is our  new self, "As He is, so are we. . ."

The new identity we receive in Christ because of the New Covenant gives us the grace to believe on Him for all things.

Whereas in times past the Israelites could trust on God's favor and provision because of the animal sacrifices and the acceptance of the high priest once a year, today we are assured better things because of the eternal blood of Jesus Christ, which speaks better things than the blood of Abel (Hebrews 12: 24)

He's taken and taking care of everything, ladies and gentlemen. We do not fret about evil doers or evil tidings for the Lord is good, and His mercy endures forever!
