So, Congresswoman Giffords is walking, representing her constituency, walking the halls of Congress, gratifying the sullen hearts of Left and Right.
Yet in all this sentimental warmth, what about the nation?
Do we realize that she cast one more "yea" vote for a faulty deal which still does very little to settle the on-going debt problems plaguing this nation?
A trillion in cuts is nice, but over ten years? Who will keep Congress accountable to follow through on this euphoria-induced (com)promise?
Have we all been so swept up in the phenomenal personal recovery of Congresswoman Giffords that we will placate the remaining legislators for doing a minimal job of tackling the fiscal crises afflicting this country?
Indeed, Giffords warm presence is a boon to a despairing country, but let's channel this brief moment of good feelings into good will for the nation.
