Donald Trump. Americaβs Founding Fathers. Martin Luther.
What do these men have in common? They did not run from the swamp, but instead confronted it.
Corruption of all kinds weaves in and out of history. Tyranny, racism, economic woes and communism have had their eras and will again. Ever since the contested election has spawned national anger, many Americans think of the term βcorruptionβ differently than ever before. It has become a deeply personal word, triggering reminders of our stolen votes and a divided Congress that struggles to accomplish anything substantial. Images of Washington DC conjure hopelessness. Many believe that conservativeβs involvement in politics is useless and our vote no longer counts.
What if Martin Luther had not stood against the censorship of the Bible and the religious hierarchies of his day? What if his 95 thesis had never been nailed up, paving the way for the Reformation in Europe?
What if our Founding Fathers had buckled beneath the intimidation of a tyrannical British Empire? What if theyβd settled for their overtaxed, subdued, silenced existences rather than pioneering history?
What if Donald Trump had stayed complacent with his fortune and his family, excusing apathy by saying βyou canβt get anything done in the swampβ?
What if the heroes gone before us made excuses?
We cannot run. We cannot make excuses. The time is now for Christians to sit in the seats of public office and spearhead activism and political reformation. βThe eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward Him,β 2nd Chronicles 16:9 says.
Lou Engle said: βThere are moments in history when a door for massive change opens, and great revolutions for good or evil spring up in the vacuum created by these openings. In these divine moments key men and women and even entire generations risk everything to become the hinge of history, the pivotal point that determines which way the door will swing.β
A frightening era may be approaching, but we believe now is the time for our voices to shine light in darkness. We want to see believers emboldened to get behind the plow in Jesus name.
We are hunkering down for a long fight. We cannot do this without you. Your contributions enable us to carry on.
Thank you so much for continuing to pray for us and partner with us as we spread the gospel and engage in the fight for freedom. We love and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and prayers!
For Christ & His Children,
Elizabeth Johnston
