What do people want?
Popularity? Then why do so many celebrities take their own lives or demand privacy?
Power? Even the King in Shakespeare's Henry IV lamented "Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown."
Then what about peace? For many, "peace" has come to mean, in an all too limited understanding, "the absence of conflict."
In Hebrew, the English word "peace" renders "shalom":
שָׁלוֹם
This word encompasses all of these meanings: completeness, soundness, welfare, peace, prosperity, safety, security, wholeness. Everything that a living is seeking to be satisfied with.
Peace is consummate possession of all resource, more than adequate for our every need.
To Gideon, the LORD was honored with this blessed word:
"Then Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it Jehovahshalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites." (Judges 6:24)
The LORD is PEACE, everything which a living soul could want and does need.
This, of course, coincides perfectly with Jesus' promise to all believers:
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33)
And we can have full assurance that His Kingdom lives and reigns in us, for it is His Holy Spirit, by which we declare that Jesus is Lord (cf Luke 11:13, 12:32; Romans 10:9).
If we have His peace, we have His unmerited favor (better than human popularity!), and His Power!
Receive His Peace today, and let the rest be added unto you!
