True, the federal government eating away into deficit spending is not like Mom and Dad who fail to pay their bills on time.
In fact, it's much worse.
When Mom and Dad do not order their finances properly, it only affects one family. When the federal government eats its way into cost overruns, deficit spending, and a growing national debt, every family in America ends up hurting.
The sloppy financing that threatens the future and the solvency of this country scares away investors, discourages proper spending, and eats away at consumer confidence, currency, and credit.
Every business that labors under heavy regulations, every individual who finds fewer opportunities to work, every state that hemorrhages under immense debt while cutting necessary services, all can point to the looming government overruns which all threaten this nation.
Deficit and debt are very much an issue in this country. There is not excuse for Mr. Weinberg to suggest otherwise.
