If the District Attorney's office cannot properly manage the files of one of their top prosecutors, perhaps it's time for the taxpayers demand more justice from or courts and take back more of our tax money.

Carmen Trutanich has a number of issues which he will have to overcome, not the least of which is reneging on a promise not to run for higher office after winning the position of City Attorney.

According to his own accounts, the city attorney was shot in 1986 by gang members who had accosted him in South Los Angeles.

How his wounded past will heal Los Angeles' present has not been properly addressed, but the black eye on Steve Cooley's office, which has  chosen to endorse a rival candidate, suggests that perhaps the state has been granted too many opportunities to grab, coalesce, and misuse power.

Attorney General Kamala Harris sees nothing wrong with filing an amicus brief against the state of Arizona in federal court, nor does she feel compelled to defend traditional marriage, which a majority of Californians support.  Still, she justifies her refusal to investigate Los Angeles Chief Prosecutor without providing any reason whatsoever.

Instead of "Who will protect us from the protectors", the voters in California ought to ask, "Why have protectors who do not protect?"
