THE COMMITTEE RECOMMENDED:
- That ICE NO LONGER BE STATIONED INSIDE OF LA COUNTY JAILS. The commissioners toured the LA County Jail and confirmed that ICE has a designated station inside of the jail.
- In order to take custody of an illegal inmate who is scheduled for release, the committee recommended that ICE obtain a federal warrant, which would be time consuming and difficult to obtain.
- The committee does not want the Sheriff's Department to participate in ICE raids.
- In addition, they are calling for the Sheriff's Department to be strictly monitored on how well the department is implementing and following the Sanctuary State bill, SB 54.
